KISI (Korea Institute of Simultaneous Interpretation) is a language service company actively in service since 1982.   KISI started its service as the first professional translation-interpretation organization, being established by a group of honor graduates of the Graduate School of Translation and Interpretation of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies.

KISI has supported many important conventions and symposia with language services including the APEC Leaders’ Meetings, ASEM and global summit meetings in and outside Korea. At events such as the Olympic Games, World Cup Games and many cultural conventions, translators and interpreters of KISI in eight languages have contributed to the success of the events.

Economic Organizations, R&D Centers, academic societies and business firms have also enjoyed KISI’s reliable quality service and reasonable billing. The chief translators and interpreters make up the Korea Association of Translators and Interpreters.

 Translation

  1. Document Translation
Translation of documents, thesis, abstracts, brochures, books in the following fields:
    ● General (Trade, Int’l business, Academic papers, etc.)
    ● Art & Culture (Papers on Korean, Music, Dance, Literature, Cultural heritage, Korean history, etc.)
    ● Law (Laws, Corporate Constitutions, Contracts, etc.)
    ● Software (Hardware & Software, Network, Internet, Homepage)
    ● Medical & pharmaceutical papers for int’l journals
  • Homepage Contents Translation
Korean texts of a homepage cannot be translated word by word into English to make sense as an English homepage. As the target audience differs, its focus of interests also differs.
The contents must be rendered idiomatic and persuasive to the target audience. In addition, expressions and layouts should be translated into a style appropriate to the target language.
  • Video & Film Translation
Visual media, as a tool of communication, are expected to increase its importance and impact. The explosion of broadcasting houses, cable TV stations, digital and satellite channels has been creating an ever-increasing demand on translation of related programs. Accordingly, veteran translaters armed with a sharp sense of visual communication are needed to bridge cultural gaps.

Consulting

Foreign language is not the only thing required for international communication. Cultural differences, differences in customs, practice, and expressions may pose serious barrier to heart-to-heart contacts and dialogue among people.

Even scholars and experts find themselves in a very passive and defensive position on international stages. Very often their academic achievements and special expertise are not fully appreciated because of language barriers.
